Episode 20: The Juggle is Real: Managing Motherhood in Midlife– Top 10 Leadership Skills To Start Using Today

Original Air Date: 4.20.23

“As a parent, as a leader, you have the power to create the atmosphere in your organization, in your team, in your household,” explains Gia Kazarian, executive consultant. The skills needed for quality leadership are the same skills needed for effective parenting. It can be a real challenge to juggle all of the responsibilities between work, marriage, and motherhood, and often moms are so busy taking care of others that they forget to take care of themselves. In today’s episode, Gia joins hosts Denyse and Amy to talk about the top ten leadership skills you can start using today to help you better manage motherhood in midlife.

There is a lot of overlap between the skills of a great leader and a great parent. Gia shares her list of top ten leadership skills including putting your own oxygen mask on first, communicating clearly, making the most of your time, and being your child’s coach. When you get down to it, parents and leaders are just like coaches. They encourage their team members to take accountability for their actions, provide structure and discipline, and set them up for success.

So many of the skills that mothers use every day are the same skills prized by top leaders and coaches. Apply these ten leadership skills to your life and see how they can help you better manage motherhood in midlife.
